お忙しい滞在の中　ご縁なのでしょう

少しの時間なのに心が通じあう

素敵な出逢いを頂きました

「カンナをインドにも植えたい」

そう言って頂き

滞在中の本の隙間の時間に

池袋の改札越しに

お嬢様の高校生のスグラちゃんに手渡しました

《広島を思う　１》　インド在住　星野スグラさん　　１５歳

A year back I went to Hiroshima which is a city in Japan. I, along with my mother went to visit the “Atomic Bomb Dome” whose ruins still remain in the memory of all those who lost their lives on 6th August 1945. The Dome was like a museum where the actual photographs and belongings of the victims were stored. Below every photographs and belongings, there was a brief description written about them.
I used to believe that the reason why Hiroshima was bombed by America was to take revenge from Japan for what it did to Pearl Harbor. I used to think that it was a mere retaliation.
But after my visit to the Dome and after reading the true reason behind the bombing, I came to know that Japan was used an object for experimenting the newly invented atomic bomb. As a proof, initially, America was intending to try it on Germany but since its latitudinal position was unfavorable they cancelled experimenting it on Germany. They found out that the latitudinal location of Japan was the best for the experiment, and so they bombed Hiroshima. When I read this fact, my eyes were filled with tears. I did not know what to say or what to think. My heart sank in very deep. All these years I had been thinking that Japan deserved what happened to Hiroshima but now I feel sorry about this.
Thinking about how so many innocent lives were killed just because of an experiment, my heart still aches.
It was also sad to know that till today not even a single President of America visited Hiroshima.
I also came to know that whenever any country conduct the nuclear weapon experiments, the mayor of Hiroshima sends a request letter to such countries saying that for the sake of what happened in Hiroshima, do not conduct the nuclear weapon experiments and yet countries like Russia, China, France, America, Israel and so on show no sign of giving up on nuclear weapons.
On the other hand, I was also happy to see many foreigners visiting the Dome. I wish more and more people from all over the world visit Hiroshima to see and know what actually happened .
I also learnt that at the time when Hiroshima was bombed there was a plant growing in that place called Canna which is of the Indian origin. This plant got also damage at the time of bombing but as it was of Indian origin and it was strong, so even surrounded with radiation, this plant bore huge leaves within a month. People were very surprised to see this as experts had told that with such huge amount of radiation plants in this area would not be able to grow for 75 years. This way I learned from a plant that everything is possible.
This way my visit to the Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima left a very deep impression on me. I shall never in my life forget my visit and will try to share the story of my visit to as many people as possible. I hope and pray that all the people who died in Hiroshima may rest in peace.

9/16 インドにバトンしたカンナが咲きました


《和訳》

一年ほど前に日本の都市の一つである広島へ行きました。そして母と一緒に『原爆ドーム』を訪れました。それは1945年8月6日に多くの人々の命を奪った破壊の証しとして残った記念碑です。このドームはまるでドームそのものが博物館の展示物のようであり、写真から飛び出してきたようにも見えました。そしてそこには被爆された方たちの魂が宿っていることを感じました。（資料館において展示してある）全ての写真と展示品には、それらについて詳しく説明書きがなされていました。
この広島を訪れ、資料館の説明書きを読むまで私は、アメリカによって原爆が投下されたことは、パール・ハーバーに対する報復であり仕返しをしたかっただけと思っていました。
ところが、ドーム（と資料館）を訪れ原爆投下の裏にあった真の理由が書かれたボードを読み終えて、実は日本が、新しく発明された核爆弾の実験の対象となっていたということを知り得たのでした。当初アメリカはドイツへの原爆投下計画を企てていましたが、その立地条件などが好ましくないことが判明し、ドイツへの原爆投下実験は中止となりました。アメリカは実験に日本が最も適しているという調査結果を踏まえ、そして広島に投下しました。私はこの事実を読んだとき、目には溢れんばかりの涙が溜まっていました。そしてことばを失い頭の中は真っ白になりました。私の心はとても深いところに沈み込んでしまいました。
そしてここ数年ずっと、広島で起こったことは日本人の罰であると考えていました。しかしこれは誤りであることがわかりました。一体どれだけの罪のない人々が命を落としたのかということを考えただけでも、私の心は痛みました。
私の沈んだ気持ちをさらに悲しいものにしたのは、今日までアメリカの大統領が誰一人として広島を訪れたことがないということです。
さらに、歴代の広島市長は核実験を行おうとする国に対して、常に「広島で何が起きたかというその重みを考えてください。」と訴える書簡を送り続けています。にもかかわらず、ロシア、中国、フランス、アメリカ、イスラエルといった国々は核兵器を手放す気はありません。
一方で、この広島の資料館を多くの外国の方が訪れていることをとても嬉しく思いました。もっともっと多くの方が世界中からこの広島を訪れ、実際に何が起きたのかを目にしてくれたらと願っています。
また、広島に原爆が投下されてまもなく、インド原産であるカンナという花が咲いたという説明書を読みました。この花も原爆でダメージを受けたのでしょうが、インド原産ということだからでしょうか、力強く、放射線を浴びたにもかかわらず、一ヶ月後に花が咲いたとありました。専門家によれば75年間は草木も生えないであろうといわれたこの地に、花が咲いたことはどれほど人々を驚かせたことでしょう。この事実から私は不可能なことはないということを学びました。
こうして私の広島原爆ドーム訪問は非常に実り多きものとなりました。そして、そこで見て読んだことは一生涯忘れることはないでしょう。そしてこの訪問したことをできるだけ多くの人に知っていただけたらと思います。
広島で亡くなられた方全てのご冥福をお祈り申し上げます。
